For want of a pipeline: Canadian LNG should power low-carbon revolution, report says

WASHINGTON — As the world struggles to find the right balance between a carbon-free future and a present that still runs on fossil fuels, Canada could be leveraging its natural-gas riches to help fuel both, a new report suggests. The report, to be released Monday by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, urges the federal government to finally get serious about building the infrastructure necessary to fast-track the extraction and export of liquid natural gas. The carbon-credits clause of the 2015 Paris climate accord could be a “key driver of growth” for the LNG sector if Canadian natural gas were to become a viable alternative for coal-fired power plants around the world, it suggests.“This initiative could not only support natural gas exports but an array of services, technology, and materials exports,” writes Eric Miller, president of the D.C.-based Rideau Potomac Strategy Group and the report’s author.“Canada should use the global carbon market fra...IDA Crown Jewish Academy talks Passover

(The Hill) – Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who was released from the hospital last week following treatment for clinical depression, detailed the “downward spiral” that led to him seeking help for his depression in February.“It's like, you just won the biggest race in the country,” Fetterman said to CBS Sunday Morning in his first interview since checking into treatment. “And the whole thing about depression is that objectively, you may have won, but depression can absolutely convince you that you actually lost. And that's exactly what happened. And that was the start of a downward spiral.”Fetterman, who defeated Mehmet Oz in one of the most closely-watched and high stakes Senate races in 2022, was released from the hospital on Friday and will spend time with his family at home in Pennsylvania while the Senate is on a two week recess. The win over Oz helped Democrats secure a majority in the pivotal upper chamber.Fetterman said he expects to be back in the Senate when it reconvenes t...Weekend Break with Studio by Garden Streets

Published Fri, 22 Nov 2024 08:26:14 GMT
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Storm Prediction Center continues to keep a watch on Central Texas with much of the area under a Slight risk (Category 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms. Large hail will be the main risk but damaging straight line winds will also be possible. And, there will be a threat of an isolated tornado. We should always be prepared for these weather threats. The Storm Prediction Center is also suggesting that a weather watch is being considered for later this afternoon. What may deter or delay the development of thunderstorms is the cap as winds several thousand feet up are coming from the southwest, thus a warming wind.Severe risk for the afternoon and eveningThe flow off the Gulf has increased surface moisture reflected by noon dew points mostly in the middle/upper 60s to low/mid 70s. One of the weather features likely to influence the development of thunderstorms, the dryline, is out near Big Spring moving east. Published Fri, 22 Nov 2024 08:26:14 GMT
“The world’s second military power”, as Russia had been referred to before it waged war in Ukraine, is reportedly suffering from a severe shortage of both lethal and non-lethal weapons, including drones and missiles. Under sanctions, when it is impossible to obtain arms components and military goods in the usual way, the aggressor is forced to rely on supplies from rogue countries and their accomplices. One of the main accomplices ensuring the supply of sanctioned goods to Russia is Armenia - writes James Wilson. The unholy alliance between Russia, Iran and Armenia emerged despite the focus on Western values declared by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. Actions speak louder than words: a number of easily verifiable facts unambiguously testify that Armenia serves as a major hub to supply sanctioned (including military) goods that support Russian aggression in Ukraine and provides the direct connection between Iran and Russia.Iran recognises Armenian security as its top priori...2 killed in Hollywood shooting
